With the cost of gasoline rising and a shortage of energy we have to look to alternative energy to power our world. Many Safeway's in the Bay Area run exclusively on wind power. Mother nature has power that we can't imagine and enough free energy to power the world. But big business doesn't want energy to become free, capitalism lives.Wind only accounts for 15 percent of California's electricity. Wind tends to die down during the hottest part of the day here, so there's an imbalance. The utility industry is willing to spend $14 million on an experiment to see if wind power generated in Canada can be transferred to the US. If it works, the amount of wind power could save the US a lot of money.
PG&E likes solar thermal power too. They have already signed a contract for 550 megawatts of solar thermal power with Solel, an Israeli company. PG&E will announce new contracts with new companies in the very near future. Some of the new business options include Ausra or Brightsource Energy.
